Grub Burger Bar – Houston, TX

As the second location of a growing up-scale burger company, a range of materials were selected to be used in various locations to create a high-quality design while maintaining the clients budget requirements. Beyond the design and management of the project, responsibilities included working with the client on future location decisions, company ideals and goals, and marketing and branding. The concept for Grub Burger Bar is a contemporary take on the rural quality of the state of Texas. This idea is incorporated throughout the design with the custom 2×4 wood screens and rusted cattle fencing lights while introducing more modern materials like tile, terracotta brick, and custom fabric panels. The challenge of this location was the length and narrowness of the space. This challenge presented the opportunity for a very dynamic visual experience by carrying the wood screen throughout the space to pull one’s eye to the bar and exterior patio to help as a visual guide for those first visiting the restaurant.
